Emerging Technology

The emerging technology that caught my interest the most was the webcast; in particular, YouTube. This technology makes it really quite simple to broadcast practically any video or audio creation to a vast number of people at once. The services, many of which are free, used to host these are now plenty in number, but the most well-known is YouTube.

I have used YouTube in the past mostly for recreational purposes. I look up songs or artists that I have been meaning to learn more about or to show my friends and I am a frequent visitor of the NPR channel on YouTube. Just recently, I used YouTube in my Psychology (B105) class as a resource to supplement reading on the nervous system and the brain. I believe that YouTube is truly user-friendly. When a video is viewed, there is a sidebar with similar videos that may interest the viewer.

I found this link, 100 Best YouTube Videos for Teachers, to be very helpful in exploring just how many ways YouTube can be used in the classroom. I watched many of the videos connected to this link and I found that I liked this one the most:

I think it's great that this technology can bring such a classic educational cartoon to the Internet for more people to see.

Blog Numero Uno

Hey, all! I'm Ashley Hauser and I am a sophomore majoring in secondary English education. I have had a blog in the past, but I did not use Blogger to make it. Blogger was actually incredibly user-friendly and allowed me to set up a blog within minutes.
